The Ph.D.: A Path to Success Every year since 2003, Stony Brook AGEP, in collaboration with the biomedical science graduate programs, led by Dr. Peter Gergen, Professor and Associate Dean of the Graduate School, hosts a 2-day annual retreat for undergraduate and master´s students from institutions throughout the state and region to engage in a comprehensive discussion about what the Ph.D. is all about, how to navigate the admissions process, and different career opportunities. Over the two day period, the participants meet and interact with current AGEP students, Graduate Program Directors, tour the campus research facilities, and hear about opportunities at Stony Brook.



National Conferences


AGEP Recruits annually at the following national and regional conferences:

  • ABRCMS: Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students.
  • NSBE: National Society for Black Engineers.
  • SACNAS: The Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science.
  • SHPE: Society for Hispanic and Professional Engineers.
  • CSTEP: New York State Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program Annual Conference

NYC Recruitment Fair


This is a joint venture with our SUNY AGEP Alliance Partners, University at Albany, Binghamton University and University at Buffalo along with 2 other AGEP Programs and their institutions: CNY-PR AGEP and CUNY AGEP. It is a regional recruitment event at our Stony Brook Manhattan location every fall.
