Teaching
Courses taught at Stony Brook include ANP120 Introduction to Physical Anthropology, ANP350 Studying Primates, ANT/DPA550 Theory and Methods in Primatology, ANP403 Problems in Physical Anthropology (Social evolution in human and nonhuman primates; Taking sides: controversies in Physical Anthropology)
Research Interests
My general research interest include questions on the evolution of group life and social behavior, alloparental care, feeding ecology and feeding competition, predator-prey interactions, reproductive strategies, seasonality, evolutionary models, community ecology, and conservation.
I have conducted laboratory research on South American callitrichine
monkeys (Callithrix spp.) and fieldwork on Hanuman langurs
(Semnopithecus entellus) in Nepal. Currently I conduct fieldwork on
Phayre’s leaf monkeys (Trachypithecus phayrei) in Phu Khieo
Wildlife Sanctuary, Northeastern Thailand. Research questions center
on costs and benefits of group life, ecology of social relationships,
and reproductive strategies.
