Environmental Education
Summer Camp Project

Sea Wolf campers who participate in this stewardship project will be exposed to the importance of maintaining a healthy environment free of chemicals, toxins, and environmental pollutants often ingested by birds.

Our feathered friends are very sensitive to and affected by small amounts of environmental pollutants.  The primary food sources of birds, such as insects, seeds, grains, nuts, tiny baitfish, crustaceans, etc.,  are largely environmental. All these food sources absorb and assimilate harmful substances as they mature and are ultimately consumed by birds.

We will collaborate with the Eastern Long Island Audubon Association utilizing materials available through the Cornell University Ornithology lab.

Campers will participate in constructing feeders, birdhouses and studying the many types of nests that various species of birds construct.

All participants will be exposed to organizations that have been formed to foster our interest in birding.
