The FAHSS listserve launched in September, 2005.  FAHSSNEWS will be serve to establish channels of communications between departments and faculty.  Announcements will include colloquiua, and special, faculty working groups, new hires, FAHSS events, departmental activities of general interest. In the spirit of building community and laying the foundations for working groups and other interdisciplinary research and teaching interactions, this event will be devoted to intellectual self-portraits by the Departments of English and History. Each department will give a short profile of the kinds of research, creative activities, and teaching that are going on (including faculty research areas, current dissertation projects, recent seminars, etc). There will also be a display with books and other publications from the two departments.
