2007 Holiday Greetings from the President
The winter holidays provide a wonderful opportunity to reunite family and friends, and to enjoy family and cultural traditions.
For the Thanksgiving holiday many offices on the West Campus, HSC, and Southampton will choose to remain closed on Friday, November 23. Employees for whom this day is not a holiday and who wish to work on that day should contact Human Resource Services at (631) 632-1129 to arrange alternative work locations.
The year-end holiday season is traditionally a time when employees spend some time away from the University. Final exams end on Saturday, December 22, and many offices may choose to close on Monday, December 24, and Monday, December 31, in addition to the official closings on Christmas, December 25 and New Year's, January 1 holidays. Departments may also choose to operate with reduced staffing from Wednesday, December 26, through Friday, December 28, 2007. Please note that campus operations must continue with at least a skeleton crew for the December 26 - 28 period.
Stony Brook University Medical Center and Health Sciences Center outpatient facilities, as well as the Long Island State Veterans Home, will maintain normal operations during the holiday period. The Health Sciences Center building will remain fully functional, except for the legal holidays on Tuesday, December 25 and January 1. Human Resource Services will provide more detailed holiday information, and guidelines on time and attendance issues.
As we approach the holiday season, let me thank you for all that you have accomplished in 2007. I wish you, and your families, happy holidays.
Shirley Strum Kenny
President, Stony Brook University
