students in dorm room

Stony Brook Southampton features newly renovated suite-style buildings. Each building has four suites; within those four suites are four doubles and two singles. These suites feature motion detector lights to help save energy. There are lower level suites which have three doubles, share a communal bathroom and no common area.

  • Buildings consist of a front and back entrance with ramps, and elevators connecting the first floor and lower level.
  • Four fire escape doors on the first and second floors, and are equipped with fully functioning and updated fire safety equipment.
  • Every room on the first and second floors has an air conditioning and heating unit that the resident controls. The heating and cooling in the lower level are controlled by a separate system that can be altered by request.
  • Every room is carpeted and furnished with an extra-long twin bed, desk with a bookshelf, chair, dresser, and bookcase for each resident.
  • All rooms will have high-speed access to the Internet and cable television access.

Building Amenities

Each building has within it a vending machine, two washing machines, and two dryers. Washing clothes costs $1.75 per load per machine, but only $1.50 if students use their campus cash with their Stony Brook University I.D., which can be accessed to add money online and in the Student Center on campus.

The vending machines are standard vending machine prices, averaging at $0.90 per item.  In each building’s lounge there is a microwave for food needs.

Every lounge is also equipped with a large flat screen T.V. for student recreation.
