Southampton Professional Pathways Program
Dear Faculty & Staff,
The Southampton Professional Pathways Program (SPPP) is the new mentoring program we will be sponsoring here at Stony Brook Southampton campus. Since it is our first year, it is vital that students are provided opportunities to become more acquainted and in touch with the faculty. Students will meet with their mentors for at least half an hour to an hour a week, individually or in a group setting. This connection with our students will be critical in their academic and social success.
The Southampton Professional Pathways Program (SPPP) is open to ALL undergraduates and aims to:
- Build positive mentor-mentee relationships
- Offer multiple services and levels of participation
- Cultivate appropriate learning and knowledge building
- Create extraordinary opportunities for student success
Mentors will:
- Demonstrate commitment to student community at SBS
- Represent positive role models
- Provide advice and academic guidance
- Support career development, as well as social and cultural growth
Mentees are:
- Matched appropriately with faculty or staff member
- Assisted to adjust well to student life at SBS
- Learning time management and de-stressing techniques
- Guided toward success by a “personal touch”
Faculty members interested in participating in the SPPP should email Anamaria Cobo de Paci at
