This in-depth exploration of Italian culture in situ has as its focus three major areas that are synonymous with the cultural achievements of Italy, not only in the past, but also in the 21st century. These subjects – Fresco & Fresco Restoration, Art History, and Italian Cuisine & Wines – will be examined and presented in multi-faceted ways which will enable students to make connections between these three areas, as well as to throw light on their own cultural backgrounds, and to achieve a composite understanding of Italian Culture in a relatively short time.
This program is organized exclusively for the School of Professional Development at Stony Brook in cooperation with the Department of European Languages and Literature and International Academic Programs. It incorporates a range of focused seminars and workshops that will enable students to develop the tools required for a deep knowledge of Italian culture and for exploring relationships across and between cultures. Sessions will be interactive and intellectually stimulating and will involve preliminary and follow-up discussions.
The registration deadline has been extended to May 15. |
