Stony Brook University's School of Professional Development (SPD) offers programs designed to provide human resource professionals, such as strategic managers, staff specialists, HR generalists and trainers with leading industry expertise.

Flexible Scheduling
To accommodate the needs of working adults, Stony Brook’s School of Professional Development (SPD) offers courses in the evenings, on Saturdays and online. With the SPD Online program, students can earn their MPS or advanced graduate certificate completely online, without ever coming to campus.

Different Programs for Different Needs
SPD’s two graduate programs provide a balance of practical and theoretical knowledge for candidates aspiring to enhance their career opportunities with an advanced academic credential. All coursework aligns with professional standards of practice, making SPD graduates an asset to the companies and non-profits that employ them. Plus, our non-credit certificate programs prepare professionals and recent graduates seeking Professional Human Resources (PHR®) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®) certification.
