Hispanic Heritage Month

October marks the 20th Anniversary of Hispanic Heritage Month at Stony Brook University. Celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of Americans whose ancestors come from Spain, Mexico, the Carribean, and Central and South America.

The Stony Brook community can choose from a variety of events—including the Long Island Latino International Film Festival, of which SPD is a proud supporter.

Dean Edelson Presents Workshop

 

Dean Edelson Presents Leadership Workshop to University Professionals

On March 25, Dean Edelson presented a workshop on "The Five Fingers of Leadership" to a gathering of United University Professionals (UUP) members. More than 55 participants attended to listen to the Dean Edelson's presentation and ask follow-up questions as part of the union's lunchtime learning series.

Dean Edelson Receives Award for Publication on Distance Learning
Dean Paul Edelson and Dr. Von Pittman have won the Specialty Books Excellence in Research Award for their article "Historical Perspectives on Distance Learning in the United States," which appeared in "Economics of Distance Learning: Theory, Practice, and Research" by W.J. Bramble and S. Panda, eds. (Routledge, 2008).


New Articulation Agreement With Fordham Allows Ed Leadership Students Seamless Transfer into Ed.D. Program
SPD is proud to announce an articulation agreement between Stony Brook University and Fordham University's Graduate School of Education. Upon successful completion of our Advanced Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership, there will be a seamless transfer into Fordam's doctoral program in Educational Leadership for students who meet Fordham's admission standards. Furthermore, the Ed.D. will be awarded upon completion of forty-five (45) units, including dissertation. The first six credits of this doctoral program will be offered through SPD at Stony Brook tuition rates. »Details
