Eligibility

Any person is eligible to take the PHR/SPHR preparation course. To qualify to take the PRH/SPRH exam, a candidate must have two years of HR exempt level (professional) experience. Current students or recent graduates (within 12 months of graduation with a bachelors or graduate degree) are also eligible to take the exam. Your two years of professional work experience must be completed within 5 years of successfully passing the exam.

The next testing window is May 1, 2008 - June 30, 2008. Those looking to register for the exam must go to http://www.hrci.org. (Exam registration fee not included in course preparation tuition.)

Content

These preparation courses will cover the following 6 modules:

Module 1: Strategic Management
Module 2: Workforce Planning and Employment
Module 3: Human Resource Development
Module 4: Total Rewards
Module 5: Employee and Labor Relations
Module 6: Risk Management

In addition to receiving the 6 study modules, SHRM Learning System CD, and guidelines for taking the PHR/SPHR exam, you will also receive a CD-Rom containing the class facilitator slides to use as an additional study resource at no additional charge.

Both courses cover the same material, but one is offered in a standard format and the other is offered in an accelerated format.

Students who successfully complete the preparation course will receive a certificate of completion from SHRM and Stony Brook University.  Successful completion is dependent upon students attending 75% of course hours.

NCE 900 Accelerated Course Preparations
This is a 21-hour accelerated PHR/SPHR preparation course that will earn each passing student 2.1 CEUs. The cost of course materials and sample test are included with the tuition. On the last day of the course, the sample PHR/SPHR examination will be administered.
Program Tuition: $845 (Tuition discounts may apply)
Section B: Wednesdays, 6pm-9pm; September 24; October 1, 15, 22 & 29; November 5 & 12, 2008
Suggested registration deadline September 10, 2008.

NCE 901 Standard Course Preparations
This is a 36-hour PHR/SPHR preparation course which will earn each passing student 3.6 CEUs. The cost of course materials and sample test are included with the tuition. On the last day of the course, the sample PHR/SPHR examination will be administered.
Program Tuition: $1145 (Tuition discounts may apply)
Section B: Saturdays, 10am-1pm; September 6, 13, 20 & 27; October 4, 11, 18 & 25; November 1, 8, 15 & 22, 2008
Suggested registration deadline August 20, 2008.

Unless otherwise specified, all courses are held on the main campus of Stony Brook University.
