Study Abroad: Summer (Undergraduate Program)

Program Description

Stony Brook University offers students the opportunity to visit the world heritage city of Alcal á, also the birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes. This four week total immersion program is hosted by one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe, the University of Alcal á (UAH), founded in 1499 by Cardinal Cisneros.

The Spanish Studies classrooms and offices are located in the former Trinitarios convent built in the 17th century carrying on the legacy of cultural heritage in Alcalá. THe university offers a college town atmosphere conveniently located near an exciting European capital, Madrid.

  • Located 20 miles east of Madrid (commuter train every 10 mins)
  • Field trip to Alcal á de Henares, Madrid, Toledo, Segovia
  • Visits to the museums of El Prado, Reina Sofia, Thyssen Borgemiza

Stony Brook University offers international health insurance for those who do not have adequate coverage.

 

Eligibility

All undergraduate and graduate students in good academic standing may apply. Language proficiency is NOT required.

 

Program and Tuition Fees

Program fees: Approximately $2,980.* Includes housing, board, airport transfers, guided tours of Alcal á and Madrid, entrance to museums.

* does not include airfare, administrative fees and medical insurance

 

Undergraduate Tuition costs: $181.00/credit for NY residents; $442.00/credit for out-of-state residents
