Course Description

This Winter Session course in International Management focuses on doing business in China. As part of the course, all students and the instructor will be travelling to two cities in China, Shanghai and Ningbo, to meet with business and government leaders to learn first hand about doing business in China. The course will begin with a discussion about globalization, international trade, and direct investment in foreign countries. We will then turn to the specific case study of China where we will look at the socio-cultural, economic, political, legal, labor and financial forces that are influencing China's ascension in the 21st century.

  • To expose students to the theory and practice of international business and in particular, to understand how the theory and practice relate to each other, and to heighten student interest in international management by visiting China and learning first hand how these theories are playing out in China
  • Up to 3 credits towards graduation
  • Work with top faculty from Stony Brook University

BUS 440 International Management - 3 credits

Living Arrangements

Students will be housed in residences near the center of the cities. These residences provide dormitory-style rooms, restaurants, meeting rooms, and comfortable atmosphere.

Health Insurance

Stony Brook University includes international health insurance in the Program fees.

 

Eligibility

Upper class business majors and minors, and MBA students in good academic standing may apply. There is NO language requirement.

 

Program and Tuition Fees

Program fees*: $800**. Includes room, local transportation, cultural tours and activities, as well as international health insurance.


* Participants must pay all tuition & program fees before the departure date.
** Does not include airfare, VISA, and administrative fees

 

Graduate Tuition costs: $296.00/credit for NY residents,

$473.00/credit for out of state residents.

Applications are due November 1st and are considered on a first come first served basis; applicants will be notified when accepted.
