Program Description

This Winter, Stony Brook University invites students to study abroad in the beautiful cities of Krakow (Poland) and Prague (Czech Republic). The program offers a 3-credi Slavic Studies courses (DEC-I) and a 1-credit Independent Study course that can be applied towards graduation. All of this can be done while exploring these two classical European cities.

Students will examine fascinating aspects of society and culture. The program will combine classroom instruction with visits to sites of historic and current interests. Formal class instruction will include guided tours of the cities of Krakow and Prague, excursions to Warsaw - including the site of the Auschwitz concentration camp, and to the medieval castles of Bohemia.

HUE 392 Tropics in Slavic Studies - 4 credits (DEC-I)

HUE 487 Independent Study - 1 credit

Living Arrangements

Students will be housed in residences near the center of both cities. These residences provide dormitory-style rooms in a very modern and comfortable atmosphere.

Health Insurance

Stony Brook University includes international health insurance in Program fees.

Eligibility

All undergraduate college students in good academic standing may apply. There is NO language requirement.

 

Program and Tuition Fees

Program fees: Approximately $1,800.* Include shared room, some meals, excursions, and international health insurance

* does not include airfare and administrative fees

 

Graduate Tuition costs: $181.00/credit for NY residents; $442.00/credit for out-of-state residents

 

Deposit: A non-refundable administrative fee of $200 is due immediately after acceptance to the program. Your deposit will hold a place for you in the program.

Application Deadline

Applications are due November 1st and are considered on a first come first served basis; applicants will be notified when accepted.
