Program Description

During the Winter Session, Stony Brook University offers students the opportunity to study abroad in the beautiful capital of Italy, Rome. The program offers a 3-credit Italian Literature and Culture courses and a 1-credit Directed Readings course in Italian Studies that can be applied towards graduation.

Stony Brook's Winter Study Abroad Program in Rome offers students personal enrichment. This high quality study abroad program is modestly priced, enabling a wide range of participants to gain firsthand knowledge of contemporary Italy.

Courses Offered

Students must register for 4 credits
HUI 216 Italian Civilization Through the Ages - 3 credits (DEC-I)
PHI 101 Historical Introduction to Western Philosophy - 3 credits (Dec-G)
HUI 447 Directed Readings in Italian Studies - Either 1 credit (along with HUI 216), or 4 credits*

*Only under special circumstances

 

Living Arrangements

Students will be housed in residences near the center of the cities. These residences provide dormitory-style rooms, restaurants, meeting rooms, and comfortable atmosphere.

Health Insurance

Stony Brook University offers international health insurance provides international health insurance to all participants.

Eligibility

All undergraduate college students in good academic standing may apply. There is NO language requirement.

 

Program and Tuition Fees

Program fees: Approximately $2,280.* Include shared room, board, cultural tours and activities, and international health insurance

* does not include airfare and administrative fees

 

Graduate Tuition costs: $181.00/credit for NY residents; $442.00/credit for out-of-state residents

 

Deposit: A non-refundable administrative fee of $200 is due immediately after acceptance to the program. Your deposit will hold a place for you in the program.

Application Deadline

Applications are due November 1st and are considered on a first come first served basis; applicants will be notified when accepted.
