Study Abroad
Study abroad students extend their higher education onto an international stage as they abandon the conventional university setting to earn credits toward their degree while actively learning about other cultures. In other words, why spend another semester at Stony Brook when you can study abroad for the same amount of time and money? In fact, students often complete 12-15 credits with financial aid providing them the opportunity to graduate a semester early.
Summer study abroad programs to India, Italy, France, Spain, Tanzania, Japan and Russia; Winter study abroad programs to Jamaica, Poland and Rome are taught by Stony Brook University faculty, as is the Fall program to Madagascar. While abroad, participants are registered Stony Brook students, and upon return, grades count toward their GPA.
Application forms and instructions are available online. Study abroad programs do not require foreign language proficiency.
