Angie Balsamo

MFA Candidate '08

Originally from Macomb, Illinois, Angie’s professional credits include Tommy with Western Illinois University Theatre, an internship in Artistic Administration with the Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago as well as a Literary internship at Northlight Theatre in Skokie, Illinois.  She served as Dramaturg on the Minneapolis PlayLabs production of Vrooommm!  A NAScomedy and on the Asolo Theatre’s production of The Enchanted April.  Angie won the LMDA KCACTF National Award for Dramaturgy in 2005 and attended the Lincoln Center Director’s Lab also in 2005.  She has translated, dramaturged, dialect coached and directed a number of productions on the Millikin University mainstage and in free lance work.  Angie graduated summa cum laude from Millikin University in May 2005 and is currently pursuing an MFA in Dramaturgy at SUNY Stony Brook with an expected graduation date of 2008. She has recently dramaturged several staged readings for Airmid Theatre Company in Babylon, NY, worked on Two Sisters and a Piano for last season's LIPP, and continues to do freelance dialect coaching and American Accent Training when she’s not dramaturging. Over the summer, Angie became a certified Vocologist at the National Center for Voice and Speech in Denver, Colorado. This semester, she will be dramaturging and dialect coaching the HERE Arts Center production of Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas. She plans to work with Val Lantz-Gefroh in the Spring on a production of The Tempest at Suffolk Community College.
